Wear This Trend: The Varsity Jacket.

I've been thinking a lot about varsity jackets and the unlikely trend that's been forming around them.  There's nothing I like more than conquring a a tricky trend and this one tricky to say the least.  My advice to those brave enough to dig out their Dad's old letterman, is to think of the jacket more like a cardigan sweater.  I love it with a pencil skirt and loose sweater, or go for broke and drape it over your shoulders while wearing a frilly dress.  And if you never made the Varsity team, or you played one of those non-sport sports like golf, don't fret.  Rag and Bone and Stella McCartney have made jackets that are cooler than anything we would have had to run wind sprints for.  Score!

Fashion Time Bomb: How Fast Will this Isabel Marant Sweater Sell Out?

The Isabel Marant navajo sweater, called Yoan for whatever reason, has hit Net-a-Porter.  Who wants to place bets on how fast this bugger sells out?   I'm guessing before lunch.   See if your size is left here.

Black and White: Matching My Dog.

I didn't try to match my black and white dog this morning when I dressed in my black Alaexander Wang skirt, white Helmet Lang top and black Isabel Marant boots, but it happened.  I'm oddly okay with it though.

These pics were snapped on the fly with the iphone, Instragram was neglected.

Isabel Marant Teases us with Cute Fashion's Night Out Tshirts.

I ran into my former co-worker Catherine in Dean and Deluca this morning.  Doesn't she look cute in her special Fashion's Night Out Tshirt that they made at Isabel Marant.  Don't get too excited, they're not for sale.  I know, so French to tease us with an FNO Tshirt we might actually want to buy and then not allow us to.

Fashion's Night Out 2011: Black and Grey

The weather right now is like an angsty teenager; moody, unpredictable and full of water works.  But don't let stop you from celebrating a night dedicated to one of my favorite pastimes: appreciating retail!  Let's not call it "shopping",  I feel that trivializes all the hard work and money that goes into merchandising, designing, and creating a special experience for each and every customer.  So, although the great Anna Wintour named tonight Fashion's Night Out, I prefer to think of it as Retail Appreciation Night.  Go out, drink up, and look chic in this black and grey outfit I made for you!

Chiffon Happens: What I Learned During Hurricane Irene.

As cranky Irene was knocking on our doors this weekend I learned a valuable lesson.  Nothing is as bad as it seems.  Unless of course there's construction happening on the only bathroom in your apartment and your about to be faced with a 72 hour lock-in sans toilet.  Imagine all that time cooped up drinking away hours and having no bathroom!  Quelle nightmare!  In the end, the toilet was installed just in time. A big round of applause to the contractors working on our apartment.  Even though the problem was their fault to begin with- but let's not get into that.   Let's look at these pictures of me in a chiffon skirt and toast the end of Irene!

Only one more week of construction!

Ready or Not, Navajo We Come!

I was a little iffy about all this navajo business when I first saw it on Isabel Marant's FW11 runway, now however I'm enjoying this new brand of "tribal" (for lack of better word) prints.  See for yourself and get inspired.

An Ode to the Isabel Marant Dicker Boots

What is it about these little suede booties that make them harder to get then a Birkin bag?  Perhaps it's the perfection of the 2.5 inch heel height that says "I'm so chic, I don't need heels to prove it." or the fact that they make ANY ankle look skinny.  When I worked at the Isabel Marant store I sold Kate Bosworth her first pair and from then on you hardly ever see her, or her feet, photographed without them.  This may be why I'm told the Soho shop now has a SIX page waiting list for these little guys.  Because no matter how many Jeffery Campbells or Steve Maddens knock them off they just can't compare to the real thing.   If you hurry, I saw some at Creatures of Comfort NYC the other day. But hurry they only have about twelve pairs left.  They also have the new style, the Dixie boot, which I might be going for myself.  Just to mix it up a bit.

Peacock Escapes from Central Park to Shop FW11!

I love that a peacock got loose from Central Park yesterday. It seems like the beginning of a delightful children's book. I imagine she just wanted to do a little fall shopping on the UES. In honor of this great escape I've selected a few items I thought she might like. Unless, she's over the whole feather trend...
