Who needs designer collaborations when Old Navy just hit it out of the park? I can't get over how luxe this Chanel meets Lanvin style sequin evening bag looks while still carrying a $24.99 price tag! How can this be?! I've been starring at this picture trying to figure out what's wrong with this bag and I can't find one thing. It's the perfect thing to take to all the holiday parties you have coming your way.

Hear ye, hear ye. Hot off the presses, are these images from Isabel Marant's Spring 12 Etoile catalogue. I always like her spring collections better than fall. I find, that's when she's able to produce her most authentically "slouchy French" pieces that make woman around the world go a little nuts. This collection of looks from Isabel's Etoile campaign is fair warning to us all that what awaits us next spring will keep the chic hysteria going. I wonder if there's an Etoile strait-jacket in the offerings?

When I was a young whipper snapper working in fashion PR I used to want to be Meredith Melling Burke. And why wouldn't I? She's pretty, blond, a big wig at Vogue and is always looking C-H-I-C. Point proven, MMB rocking this siiiick denim on denim lewk (as the boys say) and "life is grand" pose. Okay, so I still want to be Madame Melling Burke. Ain't no shame in that!

I've been thinking a lot about varsity jackets and the unlikely trend that's been forming around them. There's nothing I like more than conquring a a tricky trend and this one tricky to say the least. My advice to those brave enough to dig out their Dad's old letterman, is to think of the jacket more like a cardigan sweater. I love it with a pencil skirt and loose sweater, or go for broke and drape it over your shoulders while wearing a frilly dress. And if you never made the Varsity team, or you played one of those non-sport sports like golf, don't fret. Rag and Bone and Stella McCartney have made jackets that are cooler than anything we would have had to run wind sprints for. Score!

Remember when Britney and Justin wore matching full denim looks to an award show and the world collectively gasped? Maybe they were secretly ahead of their time. Probably not but, hear me out. A) We're still talking about it. B) I'm seeing more and more experimentation with this one time fashion faux pas, and it's working.
It's fun, quirky and Isabel Marant is doing it. All things I like!

I always like Isabel Marant's spring offerings better than fall, but I have to say this latest collection wasn't my favorite. Too much sports inspired and over-sized pieces seem to have been carried over from this fall and last spring. I did enjoy the tie-dye selections, they seem to be reminiscent of the care-free boho girl we know Isabel to be.

Not in love with the patchwork top but the pants win.

If this is a jumpsuit I'll be all over it.

Love the tassels on the top and the pants are perfect for lounging in Capri. As if I do that.

Lookie here! If you thought the shirt was cool you're going to be just as excited as I am by these gel filled PVC clutches from Christopher Kane. I can't seem to justify buying these full price, but stay out of my way when this collection goes on sale. Or I might have to cut you. Kidding, if I ever met anyone as excited as I am about these offerings I would probably become instant BFF's with them. Maybe then we could pool our funds and share clothes! Yay! Sometimes a pieces of clothing gets me so fired up I feel like the more I speak/tweet/blog about it, there's a chance it will magically appear in my closet. Like The Secret for clothes. Right now I'm using the power of positive thinking towards this Harry Potter-esqe Carven sweater. I think I would feel very powerful with two snarling gargoyles resting on my shoulders. I love it paired with this flippy Mui Mui skirt and Church's brogues and the DKNY bag just ties the whole thing together. All these items can be found on Net-a-porter. But I warning you, this sweater comes with a hefty $1,130 price tag. Now, do you see why I need The Secret?

I told you I like fruit prints. This dress is a few years old by See by Chloe. The shoes are Balenciaga and are super comfortable.

Oh and did I mention it has pockets!

Many blogs post photos of the Olsens looking their everyday super chic, but what I loved about this photo was not Ashley's structured bag by The Row or her ethnic scarf jauntily draped over her shoulders. It's the half captured person next to her carrying her shoes! That's pretty awesome. I think to have a shoe carrier on staff has got to be the ultimate in luxury. Plus, they're wedges! They're probably pretty comfy, but why should Ash waste the valuable Feet-In-Heels-Time (aka, FIHT) a gal is allotted per day on that particular walk down the block? It clearly wasn't worth it to her.

I love to come up with an outfit that I can wear over and over throughout the season. I'm soooo french that way. I kid but, the outfit that I got mucho milage out of this summer was my Stella McCartney fruit skirt with a chambray shirt. I wore it to a friends rehearsal dinner, countless dinners out and even to work. It was the two images below( from Jak &Jill and Vogue.com) that inspired me rock this look and all though the picture of me below is not the best, you get the idea. The shirt is from JCrew and the shoes I'm wearing are Loeffler Randall that I got at a sample sale, bringing the final cost of my go-to look down considerably. Which is important since I'm not a Rockefeller.

As cranky Irene was knocking on our doors this weekend I learned a valuable lesson. Nothing is as bad as it seems. Unless of course there's construction happening on the only bathroom in your apartment and your about to be faced with a 72 hour lock-in sans toilet. Imagine all that time cooped up drinking away hours and having no bathroom! Quelle nightmare! In the end, the toilet was installed just in time. A big round of applause to the contractors working on our apartment. Even though the problem was there fault to begin with- but let's not get into that. Let's look at these pictures of me in a chiffon skirt and toast the end of Irene!
